Discovery Walk: Decatur September 12, 2026 On this docent-guided Discovery Walk through downtown Decatur, you will uncover hidden science on a family-friendly 2-3.5 mile route with ten intriguing science stops.
Science Trivia: FALL!! September 17, 2026 The weather may still be warm, but we're feeling fall come on! Join us to nerd out on a "fall" themed science trivia at Halfway Crooks. The science of falling in love, waterfalls, and - of course - autumn!
Critter Crawl September 19, 2026 A walk through Murphey Candler Park designed our younger science lovers! We'll move at a slower pace so we can pay special attention to clues about the critters that call our parks home!
The wait is over! The application window to exhibit at the 2027 Atlanta Science Festival Exploration Expo has opened! Apply today to be part of this amazing day of science in Piedmont Park. The deadline is December 9!
Science ATL is so lucky to work with some of the most passionate folks on the planet. Our Atlanta STEM professionals and science enthusiasts inspire us every day, but this year, we had a few standouts!
Alex Grizzell is a neuroscientist at Emory University who makes it his goal to inspire children to pursue science. And that he has! He brings brain images and even actual brains (!) into classrooms to show off what a neuroscientist studies! With more than 100 service hours spreading his love of neuroscience, Alex has connected with 2000 students at seven high needs schools in his volunteer efforts in our programs. And - a bonus that he shares his name with our mascot!

Jennifer Leavey David B. Hartnett Award for Public Engagement with Science
Since Day 1 of the Atlanta Science Festival, Jennifer has brought creativity, curiosity, and fun to science engagement. In her day job, she is the Integrated Science Curriculum Coordinator for the Georgia Tech College of Sciences. But outside of that, she's leading science ghost tours, singing in a science rock band, hosting a science fashion show, and more. Jennifer has helped hundreds of people see science in new ways. We're delighted to work with her year after year!
Since 2023, Salesforce employees have shown up for Atlanta students through Science ATL programs, as mentors and volunteers at schools and the Atlanta Science Festival. Along the way, they've supported STEM classrooms, and helped young people discover new career paths.
In the past year alone, their volunteer and grant support helped Science ATL reach 4,300 students across 38 metro Atlanta schools!
We’re incredibly grateful for their commitment to building a stronger, more STEM-powered Atlanta.
